CANADA GEESE POLICY |
|
PreambleThe community holds a range of views about Canada geese in the Inlet. There are those who believe they add to the visual attractiveness of the area, while others consider that the risk the geese pose to the habitat of native animals is too high a price to pay. Although it has been argued that the Guardians' ecological values should prevent us from destroying any wildlife, 'ecology' is different from 'preservation' and certain species of plants and animals do need to be controlled when they threaten the overall ecological balance of the Inlet. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence that the rise in Canada geese numbers is just such a threat.
